Lots of young comedians who were getting their starts in show business. Believe it only played for one or two years.

On another subject, does anyone remember the TV peoduction of Thorton Wilder's "Our Town" with Art Carney playing the "Stage Manager"? That was the first play I ever remember seeing dealing with death and I still remember it to this day. I believe it would have been on approximately 1958 and I would love to see that production again.Joseph Barmesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05572756541474790161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2305571058310227787.post-75544469251981829832024-02-26T01:16:24.514-05:002024-02-26T01:16:24.514-05:00My absolute fav, which I carried around in my wall...My absolute fav, which I carried around in my wallet for years until it totally disintegrated, was a single panel. The resulting home video on VHS from the late 1990s, which I bought, was called "The Best of What's Left of 'Not Only But Also'". One highlight, which might still be up at YouTube, was a parody of such among the Gerry Anderson marionette adventure series as "Thunderbirds!", "Supercar" and "Stingray", under the portmanteau title "SuperTHUNDERstingcar!"Scott Lahtihttps://apartment319.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2305571058310227787.post-20344877653575979022023-12-20T21:02:38.543-05:002023-12-20T21:02:38.543-05:00Merry Clayton was the opener at that Riverside con...Merry Clayton was the opener at that Riverside concertAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2305571058310227787.post-53654319735513800602023-12-11T16:55:44.387-05:002023-12-11T16:55:44.387-05:00I live in Canada, where can I buy the black and wh...I live in Canada, where can I buy the black and white version of Diver Dan. In Felton and Fowler's Best, Worst and Most Unusual, whose sequel-inclusive omnibus volume, which I highly recommend for both entertainment and old times' sake, you can get from Abebooks or eBay for around $5 postpaid, the nod for Best Pizza went to Due's out of Chicago, which I du(e)ly sampled on later trips to Chicago. And the entry for Best Magazine, the Anglo-American London monthly Encounter (1953-1991, initially funded in part, secretly, by the CIA, to much controversy after its exposure in 1966), proved lucrative for me when, in 2012, after reading it in its final, declining decade in the mid-1980s, I entered an internet research contest requiring entrants to write, or to revise, an article at Wikipedia on any subject, using as prime research materials articles of our choice from a vast archive of historic magazines, nineteenth and twentieth century, that the sponsors had recently uploaded as full facsimiles to the internet. With my familiarity with Encounter as a student of cultural history specializing in English literary and political magazines, I chose to write a general survey of the history of Encounter rather than the sort of hyperspecialized article the sponsors had expected and, finding the existing stub of an article for Encounter at around 250 words, added about 5,000 more, winning the $10,000 First Prize. So a big thanks to Felton and Fowler for planting the idea in me thirty-four years prior.Scott Lahtihttps://apartment319.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2305571058310227787.post-19137679282374312302023-11-15T08:29:40.301-05:002023-11-15T08:29:40.301-05:00A shining example!
