I saw the Magic Band tour for Decals at a tiny club in Manhattan called Ungano's in January of 1971. I was a wonderful show, one of the highlights of my concert going career. I'm a sucker for a marimba. I saw the Captain again in 1974 in Brussels because Henry Cow was opening and I really went to see them. This was during the era now nicknamed "The Tragic Band". They weren't very good, and Cow basically blew them off the stage. Sad. It was nice that the Captain later found a good and devoted friend in guitarist Gary Lucas because his output and (from what I hear, I never saw that lineup) his live shows in '80 & '81 had a lot of the old pre-Mercury Records spirit.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00736646523990103303noreply@blogger.com
